Latvia

Latvia is located in northeast of Europe. It borders on Estonia in the north, on Russia in the east, on Belarus and Lithuania in the south. In the west the country is washed by Baltic sea.
All country consists of four regions: Kurzeme, Zemgale, Latgale and Vidzeme. The most part of Latvia is low plain. Waters of Baltic sea and gulf of Riga wash coast of Latvia during 310,69 miles. Almost everywhere there are the wide sandy beaches, natural harbours are not present.

Since XIII century Latvia alternately was under authority of Germany, Poland and Russia. To Russia Latvia has passed in 1785 after the third section of Rech Pospolita. After October revolution of 1917 Latvia has received a chance of finding of the sovereignty and on November, 19th, 1918 has declared independence. On August, 5th, 1940 the country has been attached to the USSR as 15-th republic. On August, 21st, 1991 Latvia again has declared independence. The country is a member of the United Nations.

The supreme body of executive authority — the government led by the Prime Minister.
